ITCZ

  • I learn that Inter Tropical Convergence Zone is the area encircling the earth near the equator where the northeast and southeast trade winds come together. The ITCZ was originally identified from the 1920s to 1940s as the “Inter tropical Front”, but after the recognition in the 1940s and 1950s of the significance of wind field convergence in tropical weather production, the term “ITCZ” was then applied.
  •  I want to know the direction of the movement of the winds of an ITCZ in the northern and southern hemisphere. I also want to know if these trade winds changed over a period of time. I would like to research on the effect of “Coriolis effect” on an ITCZ.
  •  I would also like to research on the happenings when double ITCZ forms. I appreciate the fact that ITCZ affects our weather. Variation in the location of the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone drastically affects the rainfall in many equatorial nations, resulting in the wet and dry seasons of the tropics rather than the cold and warm seasons of higher latitudes.
  •  I can apply my learning and insights about ITCZ in a way that it gives me more knowledge about this certain phenomena. I can also apply my learning so that I am much aware on the happenings of our surroundings.
