Earthquake

  •  I learn that Earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the earth’s crust that creates seismic waves. The seismicity, seismism or seismic activity of an area refers to the frequency, type and size of earthquake experienced over a period of time. Earthquakes manifest themselves by shaking and sometimes displacement of the ground.
  •  I want to know on how to predict an upcoming earthquake. I also want to know if earthquake is used to describe any seismic event.
  •  I would like to research on where and when the strongest earthquake occur. I would also like to research if frictional heating of the fault surface, cracking of the rocks, and radiated elastic strain seismic waves caused an earthquake.
  •  I appreciate the fact that earthquakes with magnitude 3 and lower are mostly almost imperceptible or weak. Earthquakes with 7 and over can cause serious damage over large areas, depending on their depth. I can apply my learning and insights in times of this calamity.
  • I can apply and use my knowledge to know the things to do before, during and after an earthquake. It will also help me to save myself from risk.
